The introduction has no meter. Most of the tonal material comes from the composer's Greek traditional heritage both as a listener and as a musician. Alternating 5. 8, 6. 8, 7. 8 and 9. 8 meters increase the tension as well as the nerves of the performer as the end approaches. The piece ends almost abruptly, as chases often do.
