The symphony was commissioned by the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and composed in 1995-6. Orchestration. 3 Flutes, 3 Oboes, 3 Clarinets in B flat, 3 Bassoons, 4 Horns in F, 4 Trumpets in B flat, 3 Trombones, Tuba, Timpani, Percussion, Celesta, Harp, Strings.
