Composed by Paul W. Whear. Score. Published by LudwigMasters Publications (LG.10205106).

Although the first Europeans to discover the panhandle area of Florida on the Gulf of Mexico were Spanish explorers, it was the English mariners who founded the town of St. Andrew in the mid 18th century. By the time Florida was part of the United States, the town of St. Andrew had become Panama City. The St. Andrew Bay Orchestra commissioned this evocative, advanced work. Because of the historical importance of the mariners to this region, a tune was composed for this composition to resemble an English sea chantey and a sailor's march. Also included is the hymn tune "Melita" by the 19th century English composer John Dykes. This serious work will be a marvelous adventure for your audience.
