The work celebrates the initimacy of a kind of chamber music that draws its expression on virtually equal amounts of silence and sound. Sometimes as a trio, other times as a duet and there are several solo passages. These Silent Duration pieces are notable for their incorporation of silence as an integral part of the compositional fabric. This work was written for my two friends Stephane Bonneau and Annabelle Desire and premiered with the composer playing clarinet. This one movement work explores the various combination of tone colors and musical expressions available with this ensemble. .
